We have a lousy bunch of Directors, a reasonable but unapproachable general manager, and a committee system full of a bunch of POA lackeys.
The only reasonable director I can see is Frank Leeming. He voted against holding secret meetings, and against changing the covenants without a resident vote. Jeff Adkins also voted against both proposals. No votes were correct in both instances. It is clear the Directors believe they know what is best for us, without our consent. I believe it would be best to get rid of most of them, starting the next election.
I have tried repeatedly to get a proposal to the general manager, but have not been able to get past his secretary. She apparently protects him from things she thinks he would rather not deal with. When I e-mail him something, I expect him to get it and him to answer. Anything less is unacceptable.
As for the committee structure, well, let's just say it appears less than effective. They want us to give suggestions which the staff and directors may or may not accept. In fact, suggestions may not get to the directors. All in all, my experience so far would give it a D-. We could be so much more than we are, if we only had some descent leadership. I think the general manager is doing a good job so far, but will eventually be reigned in by our directors, mostly conservative, right-wing Republicans, who look to the past rather than the future for our salvation.
