Bernie Sanders Is Running and Says, 'People Should Not Underestimate Me'

Bernie Sanders Is Running and Says, 'People Should Not Underestimate Me'

I'M GLAD HE'S RUNNING. HOPEFULLY WILL KEEP HILLARY HONEST. SHE STRIKES ME AS A MODERATE REPUBLICAN, SO AT THE MOMENT, HE HAS MY VOTE. MONEY WILL BE AN ISSUE. STILL, BERNIE WILL RALLY THE PROGRESSIVES AND LIBERALS.

TOM COTTON DOES IT AGAIN-TALKS

MORE STUPID SPEWING OUT OF THE ARKANSAS SENATOR. THIS GUY IS THE EPITOME OF A HARVARD GRADUATE: LOUD VOICE, NO SENSE, AND NOT IN TOUCH WITH ANYTHING BUT HIS OWN EGO. CALLS IRAN PRIME MINISTER "COWARDLY." MAYBE WE SHOULD SEND HIM THERE TO DELIVER THAT MESSAGE IN PERSON. AFTER ALL, HE TAUNTS HIMSELF AS A BIG WAR HERO. HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF HIMSELF. I WOULD GLADLY CHIP-IN FOR THE AIRFARE.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Charles Bukowski
“there is a loneliness in this world so great
that you can see it in the slow movement of
the hands of a clock.

people so tired
mutilated
either by love or no love.

people just are not good to each other
one on one.

the rich are not good to the rich
the poor are not good to the poor.

we are afraid.

our educational system tells us
that we can all be
big-ass winners.

it hasn't told us
about the gutters
or the suicides.

or the terror of one person
aching in one place
alone

untouched
unspoken to

watering a plant.”

I FINALLY FIGURED OUT RIGHT-WING IDEOLOGY

"I'D LOVE TO BE GENEROUS. I HATE HOARDING RESOURCES. BUT AS I SAID BEFORE, GENEROSITY IS THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, OF CIVILIZATION. IT IS THE MEN WHO CAN DO ANYTHING, THE MAN WHO, LIKE MYSELF, TAKES MONEY FROM THE POOR AND BREAD FROM THE HUNGRY, WE ARE THE ONES WHO SAVE SOCIETY, WHO SAVE LIFE, BY BEING ABLE TO DO THAT WHICH 'OTHER PEOPLE' CANNOT. I DO NOT HEED THEIR OPINION OF ME OR MY WORK, THEIR HAPPINESS OR DESPAIR. THEY ARE NOTHING MORE THAN A NUMBER, THE FINAL LINE ON A LEDGER SHEET, AND THAT IS HOW THEY KNOW I LOVE THEM. BECAUSE IT IS FOR ALL MANKIND THAT I RESIST THE TEMPTATION TO BE GENEROUS."

LETTER FROM THE TEN PERCENT

"I am not sure where you get this reverence for the proletariat, my friend, but I've heard it said that the best argument against democracy is ten minutes with the common man. Citizens love to talk about the power of the people, the abuses of power by fascist and totalitarian regimes like Adolf Hitler's. But they gloss over the fact that Hitler was democratically elected--elected, my friend, by your 'salt of the earth' common man."

"VIOLENCE IS THE  ONLY POSSIBLE CONCLUSION TO CAPITALISM. I WASN'T A CAPITALIST, I WAS A MURDERER. WE WERE ALL MURDERERS."

PEEVER LAW #96

PICKING A CONGRESS IS A LOT LIKE PICKING YOUR NOSE. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL GET, BUT IT'S LIKELY TO NOT BE GOOD.

A CALL FOR LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS SITTING AROUND AN OUTDOOR POOL

It wasn't so many years ago that communities around the country were demanding that their local government support an outdoor swimming pool. All kind of benefits, not too many downsides, other than having to use "our" tax dollars to help support them. I guess the Village is different. Maybe more enlightened. We cut out our pool in a newly proposed project to resurrect the West end of the Village. For granted, we don't have a lot of young children living here. Most use of a pool comes from visiting grandchildren. The pool becomes a convenient babysitting service. Grandma and grandpa do have their limits. Still, a community without an outdoor pool is a community destined to get one. In the relatively near future, look for the POA taking over Diamante. Ah, a pool. But crap, it's on the East end. We got to have a pool on the West end, that's where young families can afford to live. Oh, what a mess. The new boards first decision ends up to be a bad one.

INCOME TAX DAY

On this day of internal revenue
some of us are paid up,
         some of us owe,
some of us await a refund,
some of us have no income to tax.

But all of us are taxed,
          by war,
          by violence,
          by anxiety,
          by deathliness.

And Caesar never gives any deep tax relief.

We render to Caesar.....
to some it feels like a grab,
to some it is clearly a war tax,
           to some--some few---
it is a way to contribute to the common good.

In any case we are haunted
by what we render to Caesar,
by what we might render to you,
by the way we invest our wealth and our lives,
when what you ask is an "easy yoke":
                           to do justice
                           to love mercy
                           to walk humbly with you.

Give us courage for your easy burden, so to live untaxed lives.

Capitalism in America: Giving Crazy a Bad Name While Subverting Democracy

ANTI-CAPITALISM DAY

"CAPITALISM IS NOT ABOUT FREE COMPETITIVE CHOICES AMONG PEOPLE WHO ARE REASONABLY EQUAL IN THEIR BUYING AND SELLING OF ECONOMIC POWER. IT IS ABOUT CONCENTRATING CAPITAL, CONCENTRATING ECONOMIC POWER, IN VERY FEW HANDS, AND USING THAT POWER TO TRASH EVERYONE WHO GETS IN THE WAY."

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Income tax returns are the most imaginative fiction being written today.”

TAX DAY APPROACHES-I'M SCREWED

I'M GUESSING I PAID MORE TAXES THIS YEAR THAN MANY A BILLIONAIRE AND MOST CORPORATIONS. I ASKED MY TAX PREPARER IF SHE KNEW OF ANY TAX PREPARERS WHO WORK FOR SOME OF THESE PEOPLE, THAT I WOULD LIKE TO GET SOME ADVICE FROM SOME OF THEM. PERHAPS THE ONE WHO DOES ROMNEY'S TAXES. SHE WASN'T VERY COOPERATIVE. PROBABLY A REPUBLICAN.

COTTON AN EMBARRASSMENT

TOM COTTON, NEWLY ELECTED SENATOR, SHOULD BE AN EMBARRASSMENT TO ARKANSAS. INSTEAD, HE IS TREATED LIKE A HERO. MORE PROOF THAT OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM RANKS AMONG THE LOWEST IN THE NATION.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Apple Inc.
“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

EASTER PRAYER

PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION

Truth-telling, wind-blowing, life-giving spirit--
   we present ourselves now
       for our instruction and guidance;
   breathe your truth among us,
breathe your truth of deep Friday loss,
your truth of awesome Sunday joy.

Breathe your story of death and life
that our story may be submitted to your will for life.
We pay in the name of Jesus risen to new life---
              and him crucified.

FREEDOM OF RELIGION

The governor of Arkansas and Indiana, under sever pressure, have the state legislators change their religion bills. Good, but these bills are not really necessary. The first amendment covers it: Politicians should stay away from and out of religion. This is why this country was founded, in part, and why right-wing Republicans should be removed from office. They have no business interfering in our freedom of religion. We are under no obligation to be Christians. They don't quite get that. They are white, male, Christian, Republicans. They want all the rest of us to be the same.

TAKE ME TO MARS

Well, I said I would boycott Indiana for passing a freedom of religion bill, which I always thought the first amendment guaranteed us, but I guess I been missing something. I'm assuming this is only for the Christian religion. I don't think they were thinking about Muslims or Buddhists discriminating against Christians. Now, not to be outdone by Indiana's stupidity, Arkansas passed the same bill and sent it to the governor. It's going to be hard boycotting my newly adopted homeland. I'm going to have to try to figure this out. This is all more right-wing politics being pawned off as responsible governing. These guys are good at playing into the hands of an uneducated and fearful electorate. I'm thinking about volunteering for a mission to Mars. Its got to be better there.

p.s. The governor has asked the state legislature to change the bill. His son asked him to veto it. He is a bit more moderate than most Republicans now-a-days, but I won't cancel my trip. At least, not yet.
