OBSERVING ONESELF AND THE RELIGIOUS MIND. TEACHINGS BY THE PEEVER

  • When seeking faith, look on the inside, not on the outside.
  • Don't go looking for religion unless you mean to do something good with it.
  • If the minister is in a fancy suit, driving a fancy car, and preaching from a fancy church, run.
  • If you walk by a person on the street needing help, don't bother going to church or reading the Bible. You're wasting your time.
  • If you get nothing else from the Bible or any religion, remember this: Treat others as you would like to be treated. It doesn't get much better. or simpler, than that.
  • Once again I'm asking you, maybe begging. Give me the strength to stand up to injustice. To confront the racist. The wife beater. The gun lover. Help me to tell them your story. Your gentleness, your kindness, your peace. In the end, you died to help me do this. Now it's up to me to keep the promise.
