TOP TEN FAVORITE ROCK AND ROLL SONGS

1. MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE IS "A DAY IN THE LIFE,"  BY THE BEATLES. IT IS THE COMBINATION OF TWO SONGS WRITTEN BY PAUL MCCARTNEY AND JOHN LENNON. IT WAS, AND CONTINUES TO BE, ONE OF THE MOST UNIQUE SONGS EVER. IT WAS REVOLUTIONARY FOR THE TIME.
2. I RANK "BLACKBIRD" IN MY TOP FIVE, ALSO BY THE BEATLES, WHO HAPPEN TO BE MY FAVORITE ALL-TIME GROUP.
3. I LIKE BOB DYLAN. HE IS THE BEST SONGWRITER THAT I HAVE SEEN. I APPRECIATE GOOD LYRICS. HE IS CLEARLY A POET. HARD TO PICK OUT ONE OF HIS BEST. I'M GOING WITH ""BLOWING IN THE WIND," AND "CHIMES OF FREEDOM." I COULD EASILY PICK TEN MORE TO REPLACE THEM.
4. THE ROLLING STONES HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE MOST DURABLE AND SUCCESSFUL BANDS IN ROCK AND ROLL HISTORY. PICKING A FAVORITE SONG IS AGAIN NOT EASY. I HAVE TO GO WITH "WILD HORSES" AND "YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT."
5. IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO APPRECIATED BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN. THE SONG, "IF I SHOULD FALL BEHIND," PUT HIM IN MY TOP FIVE. EACH MEMBER OF THE BAND SINGS A VERSE. IT IS A PHENOMENAL SONG. CLARENCE CLEMONS WAS A GREAT SAX PLAYER. (I'M BIAS. THAT'S WHAT I PLAYED).
6. I LIKE SONGS THAT TELL A STORY. THEY MAY NOT ALWAYS BE THE MOST POPULAR, AND YOU USUALLY CAN'T DANCE TO THEM, BUT I LIKE LYRICS. A PRIME EXAMPLE IS "CHOCOLATE JESUS," BY TOM WAITS. AN UNUSUAL SINGER, SOME PEOPLE WILL THINK I AM NUTS. MAYBE SO, BUT HE SURE AS HELL CAN WRITE A SONG.
7. TO IMMEDIATELY CONTRADICT MYSELF, I AM GOING WITH JOE BONAMASSA AT CARNAGIE HALL, THE SONG "WOKE UP DREAMING." WITH TINA GUO ON CELLO. UNBELIEVABLE. ( A BRAND NEW SONG, NOT OUT YET).
8. LED ZEPPELIN'S "KASHMIR" IS A BEAUTY. I LIKE ROBERT PLANT, ONE OF MY FAVORITE ROCKERS. A GREAT SMOKING SONG. CIGARS.
9. JIMI HENDRIX, "ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER" IS HARD TO BEAT. FROM ARGUABLY THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER EVER.
10. QUEENS "BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY" FINISHES OFF MY TOP TEN. FREDDIE MERCURY WAS ONE OF A KIND.
